Synaptricity Plug-ins Available at Digidesign’s On-line Store
Chicago, Illinois (September 3, 2007) Synaptricity, Inc. is pleased to announce that its RTAS / AudioSuite Pro Tools® plug-ins, Flashback 1.0 and Centrifuze 1.1 for Macintosh® are now available for direct purchase at Digidesign’s (www.digidesign.com) on-line store.
Synaptricity’s newest product, Flashback, the “Back In Time Record Button”, turns the traditional click-then-perform audio capture paradigm on its ear, essentially reversing it to one of perform-then-click. Flashback allows the Pro Tools user to capture all incoming live audio on a track or master fader and “record” it in RAM and then retrieve and print it to a track afterwards. Flashback opens up a whole new world of empowering possibilities for artists, engineers, and producers alike in the studio and on the road.
Recording artists can now be relieved of “record button anxiety”, performing in an environment no longer dominated by the rigidity of formal “takes”. Engineers and producers can live without “audio capture anxiety”, free from the fear that the Record button was not pressed in time, or that the Pro Tools’ transport might stop due to a resource issue during a performance. The sample artist can gather source material after the fact, never missing that perfect sound source opportunity again.
Here’s what Joe Gore, acclaimed guitarist and writer had to say in his Product Centerfold review of Flashback in the summer 2007 issue of Digidesign’s DigiZine:
“Flashback is more than the ultimate ass-covering plug-in. It suggests a new, more relaxed way of composing or crafting overdubs.”
Using its RAM-based buffer, Flashback captures all incoming audio on a track or master fader in the host computer’s memory, independent of Pro Tools’ transport. The user may then later take a “snapshot” and save that audio to track via AudioSuite. Meanwhile, using its dual buffer switchover architecture, Flashback continues capturing all new audio, never missing a sample between snapshots. Once the streaming buffer is filled (1 to 15 minutes) Flashback lets older audio spill out while it continues tracking all new audio.
Unique to the design of Flashback, RTAS and AudioSuite instances “talk” to each other, behind the scenes, as AudioSuite writes the buffers that RTAS creates and fills. Flashback RTAS has all the controls for managing its buffers and editing buffer snapshots. Flashback AudioSuite has a basic interface, with standard AudioSuite plug-in controls only, making track-writing a very simple operation: pressing “process”.
Flashback is built upon a solid, CPU-efficient algorithm and buffer architecture. It is RAM-intensive, as all audio is stored at the true sample rate and bit depth in memory. But Flashback is a lightweight process for the host CPU. Flashback operates in mono or stereo, and supports sample rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz.
Centrifuze is a multi-effects processor that functions in both RTAS and AudioSuite modes and is built upon the same solid, CPU-efficient buffer architecture as Flashback. Its unique Mach control governs the rate at which delay can change, guaranteeing smooth changes across its 10-second delay range. All its controls are designed to be ultra-smooth, allowing for graceful on-the-fly effects transitions. And its LFO’s and delays can be sync’d to Pro Tools MIDI Beat Clock for Pro Tools timeline-synchronized modulation and delay/echo effects and hybrid effects. Centrifuze runs at all sample rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz.
Dylan “3-D” Dresdow, Engineer for Fergie, Black Eyed Peas, had this to say about Centrifuze:
“Centrifuze is boldly making waves in the plug in realm and does it in an all in one package as opposed to several wimpy ones."
Both Flashback and Centrifuze require a registered iLok and are compatible with Digidesign® Pro Tools, on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs. Both are available for purchase at Digidesign’s and Synaptricity’s (www.synaptricity.com) on-line stores in full versions, and 2-day, 14-day, and 31-day rental versions.

Press Release
Synaptricity Announces Flashback Plug-in
Chicago, Illinois (January 18, 2007) Synaptricity is pleased to announce its new RTAS/AudioSuite Pro Tools® plug-in, Flashback 1.0 for Macintosh. Flashback will be shipping and available for purchase at www.synaptricity.com on January 25, 2007.
Flashback, a revolutionary new “Back In Time Record Button”, turns the traditional click-then-perform audio capture paradigm on its ear, essentially reversing it to one of perform-then-click. Flashback allows the Pro Tools user to capture all incoming audio on a track or master fader in a session and “record” and print it after it has occurred. Flashback opens up a whole new world of empowering possibilities for artists, engineers, and producers alike in the studio and on the road.
Recording artists can now be relieved of “record button anxiety”, performing in an environment no longer dominated by the rigidity of formal “takes”. Engineers and producers can live without “audio capture anxiety”, free from the fear that the Record button was not pressed in time, or that the Pro Tools’ transport might stop due to a resource issue during a “magical” performance. The sample artist can gather samples and source material after the fact, never missing that perfect sound source opportunity again.
Using its RAM-based buffer, Flashback faithfully captures all incoming audio on a track and/or master fader into your computer’s memory during the entire life of a session, independent of Pro Tools’ transport. The user may then at any time “freeze” the buffer and save the selected audio via the AudioSuite version of Flashback. Meanwhile, using its dual streaming/frozen switchover architecture, Flashback continues capturing all new incoming audio, never missing a sample between freeze events. Once the streaming buffer is filled (which may be sized between 1 and 15 minutes by the user) the spillover design lets older audio spill out while Flashback continues tracking all new audio.
Flashback is built upon a solid, CPU-efficient algorithm and buffer architecture. It is RAM-intensive, as all incoming audio is stored at the true sample rate and bit depth in core memory. But once running, Flashback is a lightweight process for your host CPU. Flashback operates in both mono and stereo modes, and supports all sample rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz. It is truly unique in its design, linking the real-time capability of RTAS and track-writing operations of AudioSuite. Flashback RTAS features include:
• streaming buffer to capture incoming audio
• frozen buffer to hold audio from a streaming buffer freeze event
• selection slider to select a portion of the frozen buffer to print
• buffer-sizing controls between 1 and 15 minutes
• Freeze button for post-performance “recording”
• VU meters/clip lights
• buffer progress/selection meter and numerical displays
• status display
Flashback AudioSuite is a basic interface, with standard AudioSuite plug-in controls, making track writing a very simple operation: pressing the “process” button.
Flashback 1.0 for Macintosh will be available at Synaptricity’s web store at www.synaptricity.com on January 25, 2007. Flashback requires a registered iLok and is compatible with Digidesign® Pro Tools, on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macintoshes. Flashback for Windows is scheduled for release early 2007.

Synaptricity Releases Centrifuze Multi-Effects Plug-in
Chicago, Illinois (January 19, 2006) Synaptricity is pleased to announce that its new RTAS/AudioSuite multi-effects Pro Tools® plug-in, Centrifuze 1.0 for Macintosh, is now shipping and is available for purchase at www.synaptricity.com.
Centrifuze was designed from the ground up, built upon the concept of joining classic modulation elements (multiple waveform- and envelope-driven delay mod and amp mod) and delay/loop functions (smooth, precisely regulated variable delay, and adjustable, phase-selectable feedback) and coupling them with Pro Tools tempo, meter, and MIDI beat clock synchronization, all in one powerful, flexible unit. Centrifuze allows for the creation of high quality real-time classic effects, unique hybrid effects, original effects transitions, continuous tape looping, mono-to-stereo effects, and time compression, expansion, and reversal effects.
Centrifuze is 80% “variation on a theme”, being a solid and powerful classic modulation and delay/looping effects workhorse. And with its hybrid effects and effects transitions capabilities and tight integration with the Pro Tools timeline/transport, it’s 20% an “original composition” plug-in. For someone looking for that “missing link” in the classic modulation and delay effects plug-in spectrum, or a plug-in that fuses these effects and adds additional features that allow them to work synchronously together and with Pro Tools sessions, Centrifuze is an excellent solution. Either way, it’s a great addition to any audio professional’s Pro Tools toolbox.
Centrifuze has two continuous-blend multi-waveform LFOs, an LFO frequency multiplier and phase shifter, as well as a fully tunable amplitude envelope follower. The delay section features a unique “Mach” control and accompanying delay transition algorithm that allows for precise regulation of the rate of delay changes, ensuring smooth, predictable, and ear-pleasing transitions. It has nine presets to guide the user to various classic effects classes as starting points, but it also allows direct access to many of the algorithm’s parameters, offering greater control and flexibility than can be found with most software plug-ins or hardware units that perform only one of Centrifuze’s many functions.
Centrifuze 1.0 for Macintosh is available at Synaptricity’s web store at www.synaptricity.com. It can be purchased as a fully-licensed version, in either downloadable or shippable CD formats, or timed license versions in downloadable form. Centrifuze requires a registered iLok and is compatible with Digidesign® Pro Tools 6 and 7. Centrifuze for Windows is scheduled for release early 2006.
