4 - Modulation Range

< previous

Here are three samples showing the range of depth of amplitude modulation for square, sine, and triangle waves (all waves between available as well) with each sample going from 0% modulation to 100%:

Tremolo using square wave ("on-off" - but we keep it smooth by using a "steep slope square" algorithm).

Tremolo using sine wave.

Tremolo using triangle wave (do you hear the famous "Memphis" sound?). Again, we keep it smooth.

Here we demonstrate the range of the delay modulation depth, for both sine and triangle waves (all waves in continuum between are available as well). Each sample starts with 0 msec of delay mod and ends with the full 10 msec peak-to-peak to demonstrate that the range of delay mod is beyond the demands of just about any (musical!) project.

Sine wave with 0 to 10 msec ramp-up. Again, the full depth available is beyond what should ever be needed for normal effects (and less than pleasing to the ear!).

Triangle wave with 0 to 10 msec ramp-up. Notice how a triangle wave turns the sound into the "British siren" effect at high modulation depths.
