iLok: the key to software licensing!

All our software is protected against piracy with iLok SmartKey technology from Pace, Inc. Our software will not work unless the user has been granted permission, or a license, to use it, and that license authorization is present on his or her iLok installed in the Mac or PC running the Synaptricity plug-in product. So when you buy our software, you are buying the software and the license (in the form of an iLok authorization) to use it, either on a timed or permanent basis, depending on what you choose when you purchase it.

Exactly how does this work?

• First, all our plug-in software is shipped with Pace anti-piracy protection built into it. Our software will not work unless you have an iLok, the proper authorization is present on the iLok, and the iLok is installed in a USB port of the machine running Pro Tools and the Synaptricity plug-in. iLok SmartKeys are USB devices that hold multiple software product authorizations.

• If you wish to purchase and use one of our products, you first need an iLok SmartKey and an iLok ID. Please visit www.ilok.com to purchase your iLok SmartKey and obtain an iLok ID.

• You purchase and download our software during the Synaptricity web store checkout process. You install your downloaded plug-in on your Mac or PC running Pro Tools.

• Soon after you complete the purchase and download one of our plug-in products, we will deposit an authorization - timed or permanent, depending upon what you purchase - in your personal iLok account at www.ilok.com and notify you.

• You then insert your iLok SmartKey in your machine's USB port, navigate to www.iLok.com, supply your iLok ID and password, and synchronize your iLok key with their site. The authorization (license) for the product you purchased from us will be automatically downloaded to your iLok SmartKey.

• Now you then can use our software on any Pro Tools computer (either a Mac or PC, depending upon which platform for which you purchased the license) as long as you have the iLok key installed in the machine's USB port and have the Synaptricity plug-in file properly installed on that machine for use with Pro Tools.

It's actually pretty simple. It protects our software against piracy, and affords you a high degree of portability - you can take your iLok SmartKey and Synaptricity plug-in to any computer, any time. It's quickly becoming the de facto industry standard in the Pro Tools plug-in realm. More and more likely every day, you will need an iLok SmartKey to purchase a plug-in from any third-party vendor - and even to use certain versions of Pro Tools 7.0 and beyond.
