Please read this page so you fully understand what you're purchasing, what is required to make a purchase, and the steps of the purchasing/licensing process.

What You're Purchasing

  • When you purchase a Synaptricity product, you are also actually purchasing an iLok authorization (license) for that product. This iLok authorization will be placed in your iLok account by Synaptricity soon after your purchase. Then you will download it to your iLok SmartKey by visiting www.ilok.com and synchronizing your iLok SmartKey with their site. (See "The Purchasing/Licensing Process" on this page for an explanation of the purchasing/licensing process. Please visit our product anti-piracy and licensing page for a complete explanation of product licensing and iLok SmartKeys.)

  • The license you purchase is either "timed" or "full", depending upon what you choose to buy when you shop at our store. Full liceneses never expire for the version of the product you purchase. Timed licenses allow you to use the product for a set number of days, after which the license expires and the plug-in software product becomes inoperational.

  • If you purchase a full license, you may choose either a download-only version, or a packaged CD + download version. (Purchase of a packaged CD + download version will also allow you to download the product at time of purchase as well.) If you purchase a timed license, only the download-only version is available. The shippable packaged CD versions have shipping and handling costs associated with them, beyond the price listed in the catalog. So purchase of the download-only version saves you money in any shipping and handling costs over the packaged/shipped version.

  • The boxed and downloadable versions both contain the same product and user guide documentation content, though the downloadable version of course contains all the documentation in electronic form only, whereas the boxed version contains all reference material in electronic and some in printed form in addition.

  • If you purchase via download, you are free, of course, to save a copy of the downloaded file(s) to your personal storage medium as you wish. (Also, you may download the installer file(s) at any time within your license period from our server by sending us your iLok ID, product name and version, in an e-mail request to download.)

  • Whether you are purchasing a timed or full license, an iLok SmartKey is a requirement for purchasing AND using a Synaptricity product. If you don't own one, please visit Pace, Inc. at www.ilok.com to purchase one.

  • When you order a Synaptricity product, you will be required to enter your iLok ID on the order form during electronic checkout. This will allow us to deposit the proper authorization for you in the www.ilok.com database. (Enter your iLOK ID, NEVER your iLok password!)

  • You can then download the authorization onto your iLok SmartKey. At that point you are ready to use your Synaptricity product. Of course, having Digidesign's Pro Tools 6.x or 7.0 is required to use your new product, as Synaptricity plug-ins run within Pro Tools ONLY. Synaptricity plug-ins are NOT stand-alone products.

  • Also note, when you purchase a Synaptricity plug-in, you are purchasing it for use on either a Mac or PC, NOT BOTH. Licenses for Macs and PCs for any given Synaptricity product are sold separately from one another.

  • When you purchase a Synaptricity plug-in, you are entitled to all minor feature enhancement and maintenence "minor releases" (e.g., 1.1.x) and some (as Synaptricity deems) "point releases" (e.g., 1.x) for the purchased version as they are released (during your purchased product's timed license period, if any) free of charge.

    Synaptricity reserves the right to decide whether any given point release is offered free of charge or for an upgrade fee. All maintenence releases are automatically offered free of charge for licensed owners of the associated point release.

    Example: If you purchase version 1.0, you are entitled to download and use version 1.0.1, 1.0.2,..., 1.0.x (minor releases) when (and if) they are released, that is, any version beginning with "1.0" (as long as your timed license - if applicable - is still in force). If Synaptricity releases, say, version 1.1 as a free upgrade to licensed users of 1.0, you would be entitled to it, and all its maintenance releases, e.g., 1.1.1, 1.1.2, etc. free of charge. If Synaptricity releases version 1.5 as a paid upgrade, you would not be entitled to it free of charge, but would be entitled to purchase it for an upgrade fee. Release 2.0, in this example, would always be an upgrade purchase, and therefore would not be free of charge to a purchaser of any 1.x.y release.

  • We will notify you via e-mail when new versions of any product you purchase become available - unless you choose to decline such e-mails during the checkout process.

The Purchasing/Licensing Process

The purchasing process consists of two simple steps: (1) purchasing a product on-line, which includes making your payment and then downloading the purchased product to your computer at the end of the checkout process (and receiving the boxed CD version several days later as well if you purchased it), and (2) downloading the accompanying product authorization (license) to your iLok SmartKey after it has been deposited by us to www.ilok.com. The details:

  • You shop the Synaptricity web store for fully licensed or timed-licensed plug-in products using the Internet shopping cart / credit card checkout process you're most likely accustomed to. You will need to supply us your iLok ID during the checkout process (see "What You're Purchasing", left).

  • Whether you purchase a download-only version or a packaged CD version, at the end of the checkout process you will see a "Download Now" button. Pressing this will download the installation file to your computer. They can be large, so be patient. You can then place the files in the downloaded installation file where you wish on your hard drive. (The product will be not be operational until you download the accompanying authorization/license to your iLok SmartKey, described below.)

  • We complete fulfillment of your order by shipping the packaged CD if you ordered a CD product, and placing the appropriate permanent or timed license in your www.ilok.com account approximately 0-48 hours after your purchase. (At times, technical difficulties beyond our control may delay this, though this is not likely. We do everything in our power to fulfill your order as quickly as possible.) We will notify you via e-mail when the iLok authorization for your Synaptricity product is available for you to download.

  • You then insert your iLok Smartkey in your machine's USB port, navigate your browser to www.ilok.com, sign in by supplying your iLok ID and password to the www.ilok.com site when queried for it, and synchronize your iLok SmartKey with your www.iLok.com account. The authorization for the product you purchased will be immediately transferred to your iLok SmartKey.

  • You can then use the downloaded product on any machine - that has both Pro Tools and the purchased Synaptricity plug-in installed - of the type (Mac or PC) for which you purchased the license by inserting the iLok SmartKey in a USB port on that machine. You're up and running with your new Synaptricity plug-in product!

NOTE: Illinois customers' orders are subject to a 9% state sales tax on all orders.

Return Policy and Procedure

If you wish to return your fully licensed (not timed licensed) Synaptricity product for a partial, prorated refund, you may do so within 30 days of purchase.

The prorated amount will be equal to the difference between your purchase price and the shortest timed license period price on the Synaptricity site for the same product that's greater than or equal to the number of days since you purchased the fully licensed product. For example, if a 3-day, 15-day, and 30-day version are available and you made your purchase 11 days prior to requesting a refund, the shortest period timed license that is greater than or equal to 11 days is 15 days, so we will refund your purchase price minus the 15-day license price.

Boxed CDs, if purchased, need to be returned (at customer's shipping expense) and the associated iLok license(s) need to be nullified to receive a refund. To nullify your iLok license, first we will deposit a "dummy" (1-day timed license) iLok authorization in your account. Then you will be required to download it and overwrite your valid license. Then, once we have verified that you have overwritten your valid license, we will grant a refund.

Timed licensed products are NOT refundable. The exception to this is if you buy a timed license product and then buy a fully licensed version of the same product using the same iLok account within 30 days of the timed license expiration - in this case, and this case only, we can grant a refund on the timed licensed product. Please, you must request this refund by e-mail (see below). However, the subsequently purchased fully licensed product is NOT refundable for ANY period if you choose for us to grant a refund on the timed license product in this scenario. If you had purchased multiple timed licenses of the same product prior to purchasing the fully licensed product, we can only refund 1 timed licensed product when you purchase the fully licensed product.

Repurchases of a product will not be subject to this policy. If you buy a product, return it, and purchase it anytime again (same name/address, credit card, or iLok account) the second purchase CANNOT be refunded. There is a limit of one refund per customer per product version.

The return procedure:

  • Send an e-mail to orders@synaptricity.com requesting a refund. Please include your iLok ID, name of the product, and date of purchase.

  • If you purchased a boxed CD version, send the package back to our address via a trackable carrier.

  • We will deposit a "dummy" (1-day) license in your iLok account and e-mail you.

  • Overwrite your valid license by downloading the dummy license to the same iLok, then notify us when you have done so.

  • Once we verify the license has been overwritten, we refund the funds to your credit card.
